SLO County Supervisor Adam Hill steps down as Chair of Board of Supervisors
SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY, Calif. - District 3 Supervisor Adam Hill wrote a letter on Saturday announcing his decision to step down as Chair of the Board of Supervisors. Hill wrote that he needed to dedicate more time to his recovery.
This announcement comes after Hill was hospitalized on March 12 for a suicide attempt. He explained that he had been feeling depressed during the weeks leading up to Election Day, and his re-election, at the beginning of March.
In his letter to the Board, Hill stated that he was turning over the position of Chair to District 4 Supervisor Lynn Compton who is currently the Vice Chair.
Hill said, "I look forward to resuming my responsibilities representing the Third District. It is truly an honor to serve in this capacity and it is the job I love. I look forward to concentrating my efforts on our economic recovery, social services and mental health issues. This has been a tough time for so many."
Despite stepping down as Chair, Hill will remain on the Board of Supervisors as a supervisor. He plans to attend the next meeting via teleconferencing due to his Crohn's disease, an autoimmune illness, which puts him at higher-risk for COVID-19.
