Camarillo High School grad and UCLA star Jaime Jaquez Jr. selected by Miami in round 1 of the NBA Draft

Camarillo High School alum Jaime Jaquez Jr. was selected in the first round of the NBA Draft by the Miami Heat.

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - From Camarillo to the NBA!

Jaime Jaquez Jr. was selected by the Miami Heat in the first round of the 2023 NBA Draft and he was the 18th overall pick.

Jaquez was the Pac-12 Player of the Year for UCLA as he led the Bruins to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament.

The 6'6 forward averaged almost 18 points and just over 8 rebounds per game for UCLA this past season.

Jaquez graduated Camarillo High School in 2019 and averaged almost 32 points and 12 rebounds per game during his senior season with the Scorpions.

The Miami Heat won the Eastern Conference this year before falling in the NBA Finals in five games to Denver.
