500 horses coming in to Santa Barbara from throughout the county for El Desfile Historico

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - El Desfile Historico - the Santa Barbara Fiesta parade, in its 99th year, will feature an amazing selection of horses and is one of the largest equestrian parades in the country.

Friday at noon they will all be on display along the Santa Barbara waterfront. The route stretches from Castillo St. to Calle Puerto Vallarta

The horses mainly come in from throughout Santa Barbara County including from ranches in Santa Ynez and Santa Maria.

The parade director Tony Miller says there will be about 500 horses either pulling carriages or in riding groups.

The event will also feature the Clydesdale horses, some or the largest and most majestic horses every to take part in the parade.

Some of the horses will be specially decorated and also have riders in handcrafted or historic saddles.
