SANTA MARIA, Calif. – Santa Maria High School (SMHS) seniors explored several central and northern California college campuses for their second annual senior college trip.

SMHS said 48 students visited Fresno State University, UC Merced, Sacramento State University, UC Davis, Chico State University, San Jose State University, UC Santa Cruz, and CSU Monterey Bay.

SMHS Student Jocelyn Matias said, "Being on a college campus felt like I was going to achieve what I have always dreamed of achieving and knowing everybody else has their goals maintained made me feel like I will be like them as well and become what I have always wanted to become."

SMHS College and Career Counselor Christy Reasner spearheaded the the trip with the goal that students would see first-hand the challenges of college life and what campuses students could envision themselves attending.

Reasner said, "The students enjoy being in the college student's shoes by walking around the campuses and eating campus food. When they talk to alumni, they realize that college is a real possibility, and their dreams are achievable with hard work and determination."
