2 more suspects arrested in connection to attempted murder in Goleta

GOLETA, Calif. - Two more suspects have been arrested in connection to the attempted murder that took place in Goleta on March 6.

According to Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer Raquel Zick, detectives served a search warrant for a residence in the 100 block of Alisos Street in Santa Barbara on May 14.

During the search, detectives came into contact with 18-year-old Miguel Angel Arizmendi and he was ultimately arrested for participating in a gang, assault with a deadly weapon, and accessory charges in connection to the attempted homicide.

Arizmendi was booked at the Santa Barbara County Jail. His bail was set at $100,000.

Just a day later, on May 15, detectives served an arrest warrant related to the crime for 18-year-old Kevin Vasquez Fernandez. Fernandez was located in the 1200-block of Quinientos Street of Santa Barbara.

He was arrested for attempted homicide in association with a criminal street gang, conspiracy, assault with a deadly weapon and inflicting bodily harm during the commission of a felony.

Fernandez was also booked at the Santa Barbara County Jail. His bail was set at $1,000,000.

These two arrests were made in addition to five arrests which occurred in March and April in connection to this attempted homicide.

The initial incident occurred in the 5700 block of Hollister Avenue in Goleta around 7:46 p.m.

After arriving at the scene, deputies found a 14-year-old victim with serious injuries as well as a second victim with injuries from the assault.

Detectives are investigating the incident.
