Woman airlifted after multi-vehicle collisions on Highway 1 Friday morning
VENTURA COUNTY, Calif. – Officers with the California Highway Patrol (CHP) responded to a multi-vehicle collision on Highway 1 just south of Tonga Street which required a helicopter to land on the highway for a medical airlift of one of the injured people Friday morning.
According to CHP, officers were responding to a two-vehicle collision on Highway 1 around 7:32 a.m. Friday and used an unoccupied CHP cruiser with its lights on to block traffic when a 2007 Hino box truck failed to stop and collided with both involved vehicles as well as the CHP cruiser.
One of the drivers, a 44-year-old woman from Los Angeles, involved in the first collision complained of pain and was airlifted by helicopter to St. John's Pleasant Valley Hospital which required the closure of all lanes to create a safe landing zone detail CHP.
By 9:25 a.m. one of the two lanes closed in response was reopened and by 11 a.m. all lanes involved in the incident were reopened explain CHP.
