Search continues for five-year-old Kyle Doan

SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY, Calif. – The search continues for five-year-old Kyle Doan, who was swept away on Monday by raging floodwaters, with about 200 personnel looking through every brush pile and area of debris around San Miguel.

The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office described the missing boy as follows: "short dirty blond hair, hazel eyes, 4 feet tall, 52 pounds. Last seen wearing black puffer jacket with a red liner, blue jeans, blue and gray Nike tennis shoes."

On Thursday, the sheriff's office provided an update saying that about 120 members of the California National Guard began assisting with the search.

Also helping with the search is Search and Rescue and Dive personnel from San Luis Obispo County, Santa Barbara County, Ventura County, Sacramento County, Santa Clara County, and Kern County Sheriff's Offices.

Additionally, the sheriff's office said there are six K9 teams along with members of the California Rescue Dog Association, three Cal Fire hand crews, CHP air operations, Drone Teams from San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office and Grover Beach Police Department and members of the California Office of Emergency Services.

On Friday, Jan. 13, San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office provided an update on the search for missing five-year-old Kyle Doan.

Although SLO Sheriff's Dive and Search teams and CHP air operations continued their search efforts where the San Marcos Creek empties into the Salinas River today, outside agencies previously helping in the search including the California National Guard have concluded their search assistance.

Future search plans will continue based on weather conditions.

SLO Sheriffs ask that the public not conduct personal searches as that can complicate professional search efforts.
