Flash flood advisory for Ventura County in effect until 7:30 a.m.

Showers began on Wednesday morning, but conditions will intensify overnight Wednesday into Thursday morning. The main front will park itself over San Luis Obispo County by 10pm tonight and will slowly make its way further South towards Santa Barbara County and Ventura County by 5am tomorrow morning.

Several advisories, warnings, and watches have been issued due to the strong Pacific storm system that has the potential to be damaging. A Flood Advisory will be in effect for Eastern Santa Barbara County until 2:30am and until 7:30am for Ventura County.

First, a Flood Watch will be in effect until Thursday morning for San Luis Obispo County and Santa Barbara County. The main concern is potential debris flow near or below the Alisal Burn Scar. The Flood Watch will be in effect from 10pm until Thursday evening for Ventura County. A Coastal Flood Advisory will be in effect from 4am Thursday until 1pm Friday for the beaches of San Luis Obispo County, the Central Coast, and Ventura County. Flash flooding is a real possibility at this time.

It is best to avoid the beaches at this time due to the increased risk of drowning and dangerous rip currents. A High Surf Advisory will be in effect until 6am on Thursday for the beaches of San Luis Obispo County, the Central Coast, and Ventura County. It will be in effect from 6am Thursday until 10am Friday for South Coast Beaches. After the High Surf Advisory expires at 6am, a High Surf Warning will be in effect for the same beaches, which is one tier below.

Due to moderate to heavy snow, potentially damaging winds, and slippery roads, a Winter Storm Warning will be in effect for Ventura County Mountains until 10pm on Thursday.

As soon as the heavy rain arrives, wind speeds will pick up as well and will be strongest overnight. A Wind Advisory will be in effect from 6pm Wednesday until 10am Thursday for Ventura County Valleys and Mountains. it will be in effect until 10pm Thursday for Cuyama Valley and San Luis Obispo County valleys, and until 6am Thursday for the South Coast and Santa Ynez Mountains. A High Wind Warning will be in effect until 6am Thursday for the Central Coast, Santa Ynez Valley and Mountains, Santa Lucia Mountains, and the Mountains of San Luis Obispo And Santa Barbara Counties.

Rainy and windy conditions are expected Thursday, but the worst of it will be over by late morning. A break from the rain arrives Friday.
