Christa Kurkjian

Christa Kurkjian joined News Channel 3-12 as an evening weather anchor in August 2022.

Christa is a first-generation Armenian-American who was born and raised in Glendale, California. However, she is no stranger to the area. She earned her B.A. in Communication Studies at Westmont College in 2021 and fell in love with the community while pursuing her undergraduate degree.

She has wanted to pursue a career in broadcast journalism her entire life, but her love for local news peaked while in college. Christa was a first-year college student during the destructive Thomas Fire and tragic Montecito mudslides. She turned to her local news station, which happened to be News Channel 3-12, for answers.

While in college, Christa was a newsroom and creative services intern at KTVU Fox 2 in Oakland. As an avid sports fan, Christa was a live Sports Broadcaster for Westmont Sports Network. She also served as a Sports Staff Writer before being promoted to Sports Editor for The Horizon Newspaper. Her coverage included basketball, baseball, soccer, track-and-field, volleyball, and swim. Upon graduation, Christa worked as a News Assistant and Video Journalist at KABC-TV in Los Angeles.

Christa is passionate about the Los Angeles Lakers, Pilates, and coffee. She loves spending time with her family, traveling, and eating her way through new cities.
