KEYT News

VANDEBERG SPACE FORCE BASE, Calif. (KEYT) – A record-setting Falcon 9 launch of 27 Starlink satellites destined for a low-Earth orbit is scheduled for liftoff late Monday evening or early Tuesday morning.

According to Vandenberg Space Force Base, the launch window for this mission is currently opening on Monday, Oct. 26 at 9:45 p.m. and remains open into the following day, Tuesday, Oct. 27 closing at 1:45 a.m., Pacific Time.

The launch will set a new record for annual launches from Vandenberg Space Force Base after another Starlink launch on Friday, Oct. 23 tied the previous record and is part of an expansion of up to 100 launches per year from the local spaceport.

A live webcast of the launch will begin about ten minutes before liftoff. You can tune in to watch here or on SpaceX's X/Twitter account.

Following first-stage separation, the Falcon 9 booster assigned to this mission will return to Earth to land on the Of Course I Still Love You drone ship awaiting in the Pacific Ocean.

A depiction of that launch sequence is shown in the image below.

There is the potential for sonic booms to be heard across the local region during the launch process. How far the sound travels will depend on weather and other conditions at launch time.

This will be the 26th flight for the Falcon 9 assigned to this mission. The same booster previously launched the following missions: USSF-62, OneWeb Launch 20, NROL-145, Transporter-18, and 21 prior Starlink missions
