Local McDonald’s restaurants donate food to health care workers

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - In another example of local community support for those on the frontlines fighting the COVID-19 outbreak, owners of McDonald's restaurants on the central coast donated pounds of food to workers at Marian Regional Medical Center in Santa Maria.

Tuesday morning's delivery went to those who work in the hospital's cardiac care unit. Wednesday there will be another delivery for the lab workers at Marian.

"We felt like we needed to do something more than just keep our employees working. So we have food, and it was easy for us to do and it's the right thing to do," said Dan Macal, McDonald's franchise owner.

The owners of the local McDonald's restaurants say starting next they will begin morning deliveries of food to workers at Lompoc Valley Hospital.
