Santa Maria opens new Victoria’s Secret in Town Center Mall

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - The Santa Maria Town Center Mall has some good news just weeks after the longtime Sears store closed: Victoria’s Secret is now open.

A milestone for many women in Santa Maria, they’ll no longer have to drive to San Luis Obispo to go to Victoria’s Secret. Now they can take a quick trip to the Town Center Mall.

A line of eager customers grew all day.

“We got off early today and the first thing we thought is we are going to go to Victoria Secret and see what we can get,” said shopper Sandy Gomez.

Many Santa Marians were sad to see Sears close its doors, but today's grand opening of the store is bringing a boost to the Town Center Mall.

“We used to have to go to SLO, so now it's here in my hometown so I'm excited,” said shopper Blanche Holford.

The mall says it is working very hard to bring in high profile chain stores. This is the first in more than a year.

“I'm really glad that we finally got a Victoria's Secret because I think we should be keeping the business in Santa Maria,” said shopper Sandy Gomez.

Shoppers hope it will help the local economy.

“It brings more revenue to the city of Santa Maria,” said shopper Esther Britt.

Mall management says they also support local stores and want a mix of small businesses and larger chains.

“I'm going to try to get some of those deals today,” said shopper Stephanie Ruvalcava.

Victoria’s Secret is running promotions for its new customers.

“It's awesome the stores are getting better and better so you don't have to travel that far,” said shopper Joanna Avila.

Mall employees expect big crowds to continue throughout the week and say the promotions and savings will continue as well.
