Traveling nurses excited to head home for Mother’s Day after helping at Santa Barbara County mobile vaccine clinic

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Some traveling nurses are getting a Mother's Day gift this weekend.

About 30 nurses have spent the last six weeks working with the Santa Barbara County Public Health mobile vaccination clinic.

The clinic has traveled to Lompoc, Santa Barbara and Santa Maria.

Saturday was many nurses' last day in Santa Barbara County before they will be able to go home again.

The nurses said they are excited to see their children and their moms for Mother's Day.

"I will be going home tomorrow, Mother's Day. I'm excited that I get a chance to see my mom, so I'm really excited about that. I didn't think we were going home on Mother's Day," said D'Andrea Terrell, a nurse from Houston, Texas.

"So I'll be back home at 7 a.m. It's going to be exciting. I'm going to surprise my family. They don't know anything yet, so I'll be excited for that," said Imani Williams, nurse from Baltimore, Maryland.

These nurses have allowed Santa Barbara County firefighters to stay at their posts while continuing the vaccination rollout locally.

The next wave of travel nurses is already here. We wish those nurses a happy Mother's Day!
