Outdoor pickleball courts open in Solvang

SOLVANG, Calif. - After months of construction and anticipation, new outdoor pickleball courts have opened in Solvang.

The two concrete courts are located in Hans Christian Andersen Park next to the tennis courts.

A ribbon cutting ceremony was held at the new courts Thursday evening with members of the local community and city staff on hand.

In April we highlighted the growing popularity of pickleball along the Central Coast. With more than 100 new courts being added every month across the country, pickleball is one of the fastest growing sports in the nation.

On Friday, the courts in Solvang were already in use.

The new courts at Hans Christian Andersen Park aren't the only place in the Santa Ynez Valley where you can catch a game of pickleball. The Buellton Rec Center at 301 2nd St. has open gym for beginners and experienced players every Tuesday and Thursday.
