Santa Barbara International Film Festival named on top 25 ‘coolest’ list
The list of the “25 coolest film festivals in the world” includes the Santa Barbara International Film Festival. It was just released by MovieMaker magazine.
In Spring the magazine put out a list called “Coolest Fests” where things are a lttle “looser, a little funkier a little weirder.”
This list is described as “having the best time at a festival imaginable–whether that means incredible atmosphere, superb repertory programming or choice victuals.”
The Santa Barbara festival is the 17th to be described in the article. It is listed after the Palm Springs International Film Festival. From California, San Francisco is also listed in the story.
The American Black Film Festival in Miami is listed first and the rundown also includes film festivals in Havana, Ashland. Lisbon and Seattle.

The story says “Executive Director Roger Durling and his staff have done an amazing job putting SBIFF on the map.”
The festival takes place in early February just before the Academy Awards.
It includes many nominees who attend and receive local awards, along with shows for school children, and free films for the public daily.
There are many gala events, and unique seminars with writers, directors, and producers.
