Registered sex offender arrested on suspicion of molesting 6-year-old Ventura girl
VENTURA, Calif. – A 36-year-old Santa Paula man who is a registered sex offender has been arrested on suspicion of molesting a 6-year-old girl.
The Ventura County Sheriff's Office said Travis Martin was arrested last week after the 6-year-old Ventura girl reported she had been sexually molested by Martin for several years.
The victim told investigators that Martin, who is a family friend, had molested her while in Anaheim and at Mono Lake in Mono County. The girl also said she had been molested by Martin at his home in Ventura County.
Martin, who is a registered sex offender, was arrested for similar crimes in 2006, the Ventura County Sheriff's Office said.
Last Friday, investigators served a search warrant at Martin's home and seized items of evidence. Martin was booked into jail to await charges related to child sex abuse.
On Tuesday, the Ventura County District Attorney's Office filed multiple charges against Martin.
The investigation is ongoing, but investigators say there may be additional victims who have not yet been identified. The sheriff's office said Martin was a frequent volunteer at a church in Ventura.
Anyone with information about this incident or additional victims is urged to contact the Ventura County Sheriff's Major Crimes Unit at 805-384-4731.
Martin remains in custody without bail.
