One last day of heat Thursday, cooling into the weekend

Happy Thursday! It will be another toasty day as high pressure shifts to the east but leaves a trail of hot air in its wake. Expect to see temperatures back into the 80s, 90s and a handful of triple digits. Make sure to practice heat safety as an Excessive Heat Warning is in effect for SLO interior areas. By the beaches we can expect to see cloudy skies with some areas dense enough to see drizzle for your morning commute. Grab a jacket because clouds will linger for the first half of the day before clearing for a few hours by the evening.

Temperatures begin to cool Friday and it will be a pleasant day as high pressure exits the area. Clouds will be stubborn near the beaches and will inhibit warming. Coastal areas will warm into the upper 60s and low 70s while the interior will see a much needed cooling trend of temperatures near the 80s and lower 90s. Winds may be breezy at times and onshore flow will keep clouds around and will cool beaches a few degrees.

The cooling trend continues into the weekend but luckily the beaches appear to stay in the upper 60s and lower 70s. It will be a mild weekend for the beaches, and its likely some areas will see slow to minimal beach clearing. Monday through the extended forecast will be mild and calm.
