Tuesday will be mild, bright, and dry

We are starting off the week with drier weather, but the rain will be back in a few days. High pressure over the eastern Pacific Ocean is approaching moving in to replace our weekend low pressure system. The ridge will build more on Tuesday, giving a good leap in temperature. Lows Tuesday will be in the upper 30s to 40s, and highs will be mostly in the mid to upper 60s.

There will be gusty north to northwesterly winds over parts of Santa Barbara County. A wind advisory will be in effect from 3:00 pm Monday to 3:00 am Tuesday on the Southwest Coast and in the west Santa Ynez Range. Another will be in effect from 3:00 pm Monday to 9:00 am Tuesday on the Southeast Coast and east Santa Ynez Range. A third is already in effect and also expires at 9:00 am Tuesday in the Santa Barbara and Ventura County mountains. Gusts will be up to 45 mph in all cases.

Wednesday will be calmer and temperatures will stay mild. However, onshore flow will bring a deeper marine layer by night, if not by that morning. The timing is a little up in the air, depending on the movement of an approaching upper low.

From that upper low, a late-season storm is moving in on Friday. It will work its way through the region over the weekend, bringing rainfall, mountain snow, gusty winds, and much cooler temperatures in the upper 50s to low 60s. It is possible that this storm will be more impactful with potential for severe weather hazards. We will be tracking it closely in the First Alert Weather Center.
