Strong northwest winds shift to weak Santa Ana winds Thursday
Wind reports last night show gusts of 63mph near Montecito and 52mph near Gaviota. Winds will remain strong Thursday morning until noon. Higher terrain and the Gaviota coast will be impacted the most through these hours. Winds will begin to shift out of the Northeast later today, meaning weak Santa Ana winds will impact the area. These winds will warm temperatures up a few degrees and today looks to be the warmest day of the workweek. Expect highs to climb into the 70s near the coast and upper 80s for interior areas. Winds will keep the marine layer at bay and sunny skies will heat temperatures up quickly.
High level clouds begin to increase into Friday as an area of low pressure shifts in the Pacific Northwest. Expect to see partly to mostly cloudy skies throughout the area. Temperature-wise it'll be a great day with highs near the upper 60s and low 70s by the beaches and 80s inland.
By Saturday the marine layer and low clouds will creep into the region and will hug the coastal beaches. Temperatures will cool off by a few degrees and winds will stay calm. Sunday looks to be yet a other mini warm up with some areas spiking 5-10 degrees in max temperatures. We continue to heat up into Monday but by Tuesday and Wednesday fall back towards normal.
