Winds pick up Wednesday

Strong north to northwest winds are expected Wednesday with the possibility of gusts exceeding 55mph in higher elevations. A Wind advisory is in effect for the Santa Ynez Mountain Range, Santa Barbara County Interior Mountains and Southern Ventura County Mountains until 3am Thursday. Higher terrain areas will see the strongest winds, while near the coasts and beaches it'll be a rather blustery day. Besides the winds, the Central Coast can expect a beautiful afternoon. Temperatures for the day will warm by a few degrees and skies stay mostly sunny. Max temperatures will warm in the 60s and 70s near the beaches and 80s inland.

Winds begin to shift as we head into Thursday. The sea breeze will calm down and be replaced by offshore, Santa Ana winds. Models project that these winds will be on the weaker side but will warm temperatures up quite a bit. Early morning cloud cover will be on the tricky side and will be dependent on the strength of winds, however it is safe to say there will be plenty of sunshine by the evening.

Weak Santa Ana winds continue into Friday, so temperatures will see little day to day difference. Similar cloud cover can be expected and it'll be a great beach day. Temperatures cool off Saturday before another warming trend begins Sunday and into the first half of next week.
