Tuesday evening forecast June 2nd

A slow moving low pressure system to the south will keep skies partly to mostly cloudy through early Wednesday. Temperatures will warm in most areas both Tuesday and Wednesday, but will abruptly end Thursday and Friday as onshore flow and the marine layer returns. Gusty northwest winds are expected for the weekend and warming temperatures into early next week.

An upper low to our southwest continues to usher in a steady stream of high clouds into the area and this is expected to continue through early Wednesday.

Wednesday the decrease in high clouds will team up with the warmer air mass and relatively light onshore flow to bring us the warmest temperatures of the week with coastal valleys in the 90s and inland coastal areas in the mid to high 80s.  Coolest coastal regions in the 70s.  Santa Maria has a chance of breaking June 3rd's record which is currently set at only 85 degrees.

The warm up will be short-lived as an eddy will spin up Thursday and onshore flow will increase. Low clouds will start to develop in the morning and spread as far north as Santa Barbara, then by Friday low clouds will cover all the coastal zones and some of the coastal valleys. Friday we expect slow clearing.

Temperatures in most areas Thursday will drop several degrees, though far interior areas will just drop a couple degrees. More significant cooling Friday.  There is a slight chance of some drizzle or light rain Friday in areas north of Point Conception.  If we did squeeze out any precipitation, rain amounts would be small.

Gusty northwest winds are expected for the weekend and warming temperatures into early next week.
