Tuesday evening forecast – Jan. 21st

Tuesday a low pressure system brought increasing clouds and a slight chance of rain to northern San Luis Obispo County overnight. Warming is expected across southwest California as high pressure builds aloft and skies clear. Increasing clouds and a chance of rain are expected Saturday night into Sunday.

Tuesday we saw mostly cloudy skies and cool temperatures.  Rainfall totals were a couple hundredths of an inch to more than 0.10" in a few locations.

Wednesday we will start to warm up.  We will start with more cloud cover in the morning but by the afternoon are expecting partly cloudy skies and highs back into the mid 60s to low 70s.  Wednesday evening winds will start to pick up especially along Gaviota.

Thanks to a building ridge of high pressure the warming trend will continue on Thursday.  Expect mostly sunny skies and highs above average in the upper 60s in San Luis Obispo County to mid 70s in Santa Barbara and Ventura County. For thursday night and friday, a swath of mid and high level clouds will drift over the area, bringing partly to mostly cloudy skies, but no rain. With weak offshore flow continuing, temperatures will remain warm on Friday with many areas a few degrees above seasonal normals.

The next system will arrive for Sunday with a slight chance for rain showers. The First Alert Weather Center will be tracking the latest.
