Jaime Torres Sentenced To 29 Years To Life For Yearslong Sexual Abuse of Child

KEYT News

VENTUR COUNTY, Calif. (KEYT) – Jaime Torres of Santa Paula was sentenced to 29 years to life in state prison for the continuous sexual abuse of a girl who shared homes in Oxnard and Santa Paula with him.

Torres was convicted of continuous sexual abuse, aggravated sexual assault of a child, and lewd acts on a child by a Ventura County jury in June of this year.

Between 2012 and 2018, Torres molested a child he shared homes with in Santa Paula and Oxnard before the girl reported the abuse to a trusted family member in 2019 shared the Ventura County District Attorney's Office.

"This defendant was entrusted with protecting a child but instead betrayed that trust in the most
unconscionable way," shared Senior Deputy District Attorney Ben Moreno who prosecuted the case. "Today's sentence is a just consequence for that betrayal. I applaud the victim for the extraordinary courage and strength she has shown throughout this process, and I hope this sentence brings her the justice and closure she so profoundly deserves."
