Ventura man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder
VENTURA, Calif. -- A Ventura man was arrested for attempted murder on Thursday.
On November 18, Ventura police received a call of a person screaming for help at California Street and Thompson Boulevard.
Officers arrived on scene and found a man suffering from a single stab wound to the throat.
Ventura City Fire and AMR arrived on scene and transported the victim to Ventura County Medical Center where he underwent emergency surgery for life threatening injury.
In their investigation, they found that the victim and suspect were involved in an altercation at the Santa Clara parking structure when the suspect got upset and stabbed the victim in the neck. The suspect then fled the scene while the victim ran for help
They identified the suspect as a 30-year-old Ventura man.
Police say the suspect had prior arrests for assault with a deadly weapon with gang enhancements, felon in possession of a deadly weapon, an additional arrest for assault with a deadly weapon and possession of a stolen car.
On Monday, Ventura police located the man and placed him under arrest for attempted murder.
He was booked into Ventura County Jail.
Police say the victim has since recovered from his injury.
