Over 60 fireworks citations pending for Santa Maria citizens

John Palminteri

SANTA MARIA, Calif. – The City of Santa Maria announced over 60 citations due to illegal fireworks use from July 4.

This number of 65 more than doubles the amount of 30 from last year's holiday, according to the City of Santa Maria.

Both the Santa Maria Police Department and Fire Department issued warnings that any fireworks deemed unsafe outside of 12 hours on the holiday would receive a $1,000 fine.

Animal safety and drone observation warnings were also issued and all citations will be under city review.
