SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY, Calif. -- San Luis Obispo County's Woods Humane Society received $14,000 grant investment from Petco Love to help continue their critical work in saving animals on the Central Coast.

Petco Love is a nonprofit of the Petco Foundation. They have invested $300 million to date in adoption and other lifesaving efforts.

Petco Love President Susanne Kogut says they hope their investment will help create a future in which 'no pet is unnecessarily euthanized'.

“We are immensely grateful for the generous support and partnership of Petco Love. In an incredibly challenging fiscal year, and at a time when pets have needed us the most, we have been able to place 1,902 dogs and cats in loving homes. It is with the help of generous grants like these and the steadfast support of the local community that we continue to be able to go the extra mile, offering the behavior and veterinary resources to save animals in need from euthanasia and place them into loving homes,” said Neil Trent, CEO of Woods Humane Society.

Woods Humane Society is a nonprofit dog and cat adoption center serving the San Luis Obispo County community.

The humane society say they are supported solely by donations, grants, bequests, fundraising events and fees for services.

They partner with shelters all across California along with individuals who are no longer able to care for their pets. They provide shelter, veterinary care and adoption services for more than 3,000 cats and dogs each year at their facilities in San Luis Obispo and Atascadero.

They also aim to manage homeless pet populations by performing more than 4,000 spay/neuter surgeries each year.
