SLO County records 20th coronavirus-related death

SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY, Calif. - San Luis Obispo County Public Health Department reported an additional coronavirus-related death on Wednesday, bringing the county's death toll to 20.

This person was in their 80s and had chronic health conditions, the county said. This person was considered vulnerable due to their advanced age and preexisting conditions.

This is the 20th death San Luis Obispo County has reported in total and the 19th death recorded since July 1.

A death is counted as a COVID-19 death when a death certificate is processed that lists COVID-19 as a cause of death or a significant contributing factor in the death.

San Luis Obispo County residents are still asked to wear face coverings, practice physical distancing and avoid social gatherings to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

There are 2,579 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in San Luis Obispo County. Most of those cases are considered recovered. For a complete breakdown of coronavirus cases in the county, click here.
