Voters are in the final stretch to get their registration done and be ready to cast ballots for the March 3 election

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Heading into the final stretch of this election season you don't have to go far to find people talking about the upcoming vote, trying to make sure they are registered or talking about their indecisions.

" Yea I keep up with it and as I get older of course as I keep up with it," said voter Corbin Russell.

At the Santa Barbara Post Office, one man just finished his vote by mail ballot and was dropping it off in person.

"Of course and every election is very important," said Santos Rojas.  He filled out his ballot last night.   "I read all of the materials."

With the debates have come some candidates dropping out and that has led some voters to hold off on their ballots for now and others to see if their choices are holding up.

Hannah Arnush said, "I start following the beginning so I know who I want to go for and there are certain things that are said that might want to sway my vote but I have it in my head who I want to vote for early on."

Russell says his family is dialed in to the coverage.  "My grandma always every day when she wakes up and goes to bed is watching it I visit her from time to time."

Voters are also outspoken about the non voters,  especially those who are registered and don't cast a ballot.

Jeff Donahue who is visiting the area said across the country there are many people in rallies and protesting that are not voting.  It is not illegal but it does tend to bother many voters.   "I just think they are not exercising their rights,   then you don't have the  right to complain about who is in there."

Looking back to four years ago,  Hannah Arnush says,  "It makes me really mad because it could have been different.  Like the last election I feel like if people had not sat back it might have gone the other way."

Robb Lee looks at the so called play by play saying "it is very interesting to watch the dynamics at play and both sides going back and forth and the personalities.    It is the way we do things.  It is messy but it always turns out ok."

The Santa Barbara County elections office as well as offices throughout the state,  have  added extra staff to help anyone who wants to register to vote, check their registration, change their registration or who  have not received any materials.
