Free e-bike rides available in Santa Barbara to celebrate Earth Day

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The Bcycle company is celebrating Earth Day 2021 in Santa Barbara with free bike rides. Riders will only need to download the app and using the promo code EarthDay21 to get a free 30-minute ride.

BCycles have been in Santa Barbara since February. They have also been available to communities in Broward County, Florida; Greenville, South Carolina; and Madison, Wisconsin.

BCycle is in a partnership with Trek Bicycle. In a statement, BCycle said "bike share systems make it easy for communities to #GoByBike and take collective action against climate change by empowering people to choose cycling over other modes of transportation that could otherwise be harmful to our planet. With a mission to get more people on bikes, BCycle systems offset millions of pounds of carbon emissions per year in the markets they serve. Whether you choose to ride for fun, to commute, to run errands or for the physical and mental health benefits, by choosing to replace a car trip with a bike trip you’re pedaling towards a greener future."

BCycle offers monthly and annual memberships—which provide unlimited 30-minute rides. Users can also purchase a pay-as-you-go pass for $7 for every 30 minutes. There is also a discount for low income riders who buy an annual pass.

BCycle currently has 100 e-bikes distributed throughout Santa Barbara.
