Three Oxnard men charged with first-degree murder in 2017 homicide
Justice is getting closer in the case of two murdered men in the City of Oxnard that occurred in May 2017 after the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office filed murder charges against three suspects on Tuesday.
Oxnard residents David Flores, 20, Joel Montijo, 22, and Joseph Martinez, 19, were charged with two counts of first-degree murder with special circumstances of multiple murder and murder in the commission of a robbery with firearm use enhancements.
All three suspects are accused of shooting and killing 29-year-old Aaron Austin in the 300 block of North G Street on May 16, 2017, and then minutes later, shooting and killing 23-year-old Eduardo Viveros, which authorities have also identified as Eduardo Leon, in the 5400 block of Perkins Road.
Additionally, Flores, Montijo, and Martinez are charged with two robberies with use of firearms that also occurred on May 16. Arraignments for all three men were continued into April 2018.
The three Oxnard men now face the possibility of a death sentence or life in prison without the possibility of parole if convicted.
The charges were filed as a result of the Oxnard Police Department’s investigation into the homicides.
