Central Coast Agriculture cannabis cultivation project can resume after Board of Supervisors denies appeal

BUELLTON, Calif. – A cannabis growing project near Buellton can move forward.

On Tuesday afternoon, the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors considered an appeal made by the Santa Barbara Coalition for Responsible Cannabis.

The appeal is linked to permits granted to Central Coast Agriculture for a farm on Santa Rosa road, about a half mile west of Buellton. The permits were granted in January and immediately challenged by the coalition.

“I’d like to support the Santa Barbara Coalition for Responsible Cannabis in being a very wonderful organization,” said Renne O’Neil, a supporter of the group. “That is overseeing a lot of the different appeals going on in the county and addressing the issue.”

“I am calling today to encourage the board to approve the Central Coast Ag’s Project and deny the appeal,” said Leo Welder, who spoke in support of Central Coast Agriculture. “My reason to take the time to support is simple: Central Coast Agriculture is one of the best-run companies in the California cannabis industry and they’re a huge asset to the community.”

On Tuesday evening, the Board of Supervisors denied the appeal with 4-0 vote. Joan Hartmann abstained from the decision.
