Ribbons honoring healthcare and frontline workers lining Nipomo streets
NIPOMO, Calif. -- The streets of Nipomo are looking a little more colorful, especially along Tefft Streeet.
Recently, five area families have placed blue and white ribbons along street signs, lamp posts, trees and other poles.
The ribbons are a way to recognize and honor healthcare workers.
The bows are also showing appreciation to first responders, and other frontline and essential workers, who are working long hours in difficult conditions during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Many of the ribbons can be found in the Old Town portion of Nipomo, along West Tefft Street.
However, the ribbons are also spreading to other locations, including near the Nipomo Library.
The families that participated in the showcase include the Machala, Hadden, Willett, Schaffer and Malvarose families.
The hope is the ribbons and bows will remain on display as long as the pandemic continues.
