Crews Tackling 462 Acre Foothill Fire Near Cuyama

CUYAMA, Calif. (KEYT) – Crews are on scene for a vegetation fire that first broke out after 4:00 p.m. Tuesday in the Cuyama Valley near Foothill and Kirschenmann Roads, according to Santa Barbara County Fire.

As of 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, the Foothill fire is burning at a moderate rate of spread, and evacuation orders are in place for the Cuyama Valley southeast of Perkins Road to Maudie Peak, according to the SBCFD.

The fire has burned 462 acres, destroyed a structure, and evacuated some residents, according to the SBCFD.

The fire has also caused several road closures on Highway 166 at Bell, the 166 at Kirschenmann, and Highway 33 and Foothill, according to the SBC Sheriff's Office.

The is currently at 10 percent containment
