Crimson Holiday: 40 artists join seasonal pop-up shop in Santa Barbara
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – For the seventeenth year, Crimson Holiday - a seasonal shop - is getting into the holiday spirit.
"Crimson Holiday is a group of artists from the local area and we get together every holiday season for about three months," said owner Marilyn Dannehower of Crimson Holiday.
What started with four artists, Crimson Holiday has grown into a full-on gallery of artistic products made by 40 artisans in Santa Barbara.
"As an artist it’s just important … it gives us an outlet where people can support us. I feel having a store where we’re open 7 days a week … I feel like it’s a good outlet for us as a creator," said artist Nicole Horstin of Crimson Holiday.
"I wish I knew how to do one of these things but no I think they’re all really nice," said customer Loretta Nuno of Crimson Holiday.
Artists are especially excited about the wide variety of selections at the gallery.
"I make greeting cards from hand by scratch individually, and then I also make soap," said artist Louise Scitto of Crimson Holiday.
Some of the artists depend on the pop-up shop for their business.
"They come here every year. Some of them don’t sell anywhere else ... they only sell here at Crimson Holiday," said Dannehower.
"It’s really nice to me not only other artist that I work with on a weekly basis, but also all the customers that are returning customers," said artist Jennifer Lugan Denunzio of Crimson Holiday.
Crimson Holiday is open to the public from now until December 31 at La Cumbre Plaza in Santa Barbara.
Crimson Holiday will have its grand opening Thursday evening at 5:00pm.
