SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (KEYT) A backpack giveaway event took place just in time for the new school year.
Children picked up free backpacks full of supplies on the 400 block of State Street on Saturday afternoon.
Students of all ages turned out.
Some of them start school on Wednesday.
Supporters of the project included Santa Barbara school board candidate Jacqueline Inda.
