Free Spay and Neuter Services Offered in Northern Santa Barbara County for Six Months

GOLETA, Calif. (KEYT) - Free spay and neuter services are being offered in Northern Santa Barbara County through the end of March.

The six-month project begins tomorrow, October first.

Santa Barbara Humane is launching the no cost spay and neutering services, available by appointment, for dogs and cats living in the North County areas including eligible residents of Santa Maria, Orcutt, Guadalupe, Los Alamos, Lompoc, Vandenberg, the Santa Ynez Valley, Casmalia, and New Cuyama.

This will take place at the Santa Maria clinic and the mobile clinic.

Santa Barbara Humane made the announcement at its recent gala.

The organization says it is committed to making veterinary care accessible throughout the county.
In 2025 alone over 8000 spay and neuter services were performed.

Year-round, Santa Barbara Humane provides affordable veterinary care.

Financial assistance is also available for qualifying pet owners to help ensure cost is not a barrier to essential care.

Spay and neuter surgeries offer lifelong health benefits for pets, including reducing the risk of certain cancers and other reproductive health conditions.

These routine procedures also help prevent unwanted litters, reducing the number of animals entering shelters and easing the strain on community resources.
