Tracking extreme heat Wednesday, cooling weekend

Extreme heat will impact the entire Central Coast Wednesday. Many areas soar above average and temperature reach 90s at the beaches. This will likely shatter many daily records. These conditions are dangerous for those without air conditioning. Make sure to stay out of the heat and utilize air conditioning when possible. Inland areas could see up to 110 degree readings. Mostly sunny skies and minimal marine layer influence is expected. Overnight lows drop to 60s and 70s. All Heat Alerts remain in effect. This is the last day for large waves and dangerous rip currents. Beaches will be safer to dip into by Thursday. Sundowner winds create Fire Weather concerns. Be extra cautious today and tomorrow.

We begin Thursday morning with clear skies and warm morning temperatures. This will be the last day of extreme heat before the heatwave breaks down. Many areas will only be a degree or two cooler than Wednesday. Fire risk is still a big concern as small sparks could ignite rapid fire growth. Head to the beaches to cool down. Water temperatures remain in the low 60s. Sundowner winds will be an issue for the south corridor. Overnight lows cool a few degrees.

Friday will be the first day of needed heat relief. Many areas fall 8-10 degrees. A cooler low pressure system will come and save the day breaking down the high pressure ridge. Inland areas could drop 15 degrees or more! This weekend will still feel like summer as 80s and 90s are on board.
