Tracking waves & heat Monday

Northern communities will wake up to marine layer influence Monday while mostly clear skies prevail in Santa Barbara. You may notice some tropical clouds passing by as a large system off the coast produces mid to high level clouds. Temperatures rise above average and we hold with the heat. Expect 80s, 90s and triple digits. The Heat Advisories hold through 8pm for most of the coverage zone. Beach Hazard Statements have been extended through Wednesday as the strom off the coast pushes large swells into the area. West facing beaches will get the bigger waves and more hazardous rip currents.

Minimal day to day differences expected Tuesday, other than a small cooling trend. Expect temperatures to fall 3-5 degrees by the coast and a larger cooling trend inland. Onshore flow will return producing more marine layer influence.

Wednesday into the remainder of the week will look similar. Temperatures ebb and flow by a few degrees, no major shifts until Friday. Then another small round of heat pushes temperatures back into the 80s and nearing advisory levels. More information to come.
