A mild Friday with more sun and wind

There will be little change in temperature Thursday, keeping the region about 4 to 8 degrees below normal. Lows will be in the 40s inland and 50s on the coast. Highs will be mostly in the upper 60s to low 70s, with coastal areas very similar to inland areas.

A large trough will linger through Friday. Offshore trends will increase, giving progressively clearer skies. The night to morning marine layer will be patchier.

Northwest winds will be close to advisory levels on the Southwest Coast and west Santa Ynez Range, both Thursday and Friday nights. Sundowners will likely trigger advisories by Saturday.

Another trough will dip into California late Friday and Saturday. With plenty of wind, skies will be mostly Saturday to start the weekend.

As the trough moves to Arizona on Sunday, winds will turn more northeasterly. A moderate Santa Ana wind event will start in the early morning with some wind Monday morning as well, primarily affecting Ventura County.

Northeasterly winds will cause temperatures to warm and relative humidity to dry. That is a recipe for increased fire risk, so take caution with anything that can cause a spark, including parking over dry vegetation. There is a fire weather watch in effect for most of Ventura County from Saturday night through Monday evening.
