Temperatures will temporarily rise on Thursday
A dry frontal system will continue to provide support for strong northwest to north winds, with several advisories holding on. Sustained winds will be up to 35 mph and at the height in parts of the South Coast, gusts will be up to 60 mph.
A wind advisory on the Central Coast expires at 8:00 pm Wednesday night. One in the Santa Ynez Range, South Coast, and interior Santa Barbara County mountains will run until 3:00 am Thursday. Another expires in the Ventura County mountains at noon Thursday. One in the Ventura County central valleys will begin at 9:00 pm Wednesday and run to noon Thursday.
Flow and winds will turn more northeasterly late Wednesday and more so into Thursday morning. Night to morning fog will stick to the south Central Coast and in the Santa Ynez Valley.
Temperatures will rise noticeably Thursday with the change in flow and with a short-lived ridge. Highs will be in the 70s to low 80s on the coast and up to the mid 80s inland.
However, a broad trough will overtake ridging come Friday. Flow will flip onshore and temperatures will cool again. Low and high-level clouds will move back over the region.
The flip-flop pattern will keep on, as another ridge sets in from the south Sunday, persisting into Monday. Night to morning marine layer clouds will become more minimal.
