Sunday Evening Forecast Dec 25th

Despite the calendar being right on Christmas, Mother Nature delivered with yet another picture perfect warm day. All areas were at least five to ten degrees above normal with a few of the warmest areas topping out in the mid 80's! The offshore flow is ending which means a slight chance for patchy fog is possible and cooler temperatures as we head in to th last Monday of 2022. Then we get ready for a big weather pattern change as a couple of storm systems take aim at the West Coast.

A large area of low pressure will push bands of rain in to Northern California by late Monday. We will then see the rain spread south through Tuesday. Rain totals north of Point Conception could range from 1 to 4 inches. Less is expected the farther south you go, but even the coastal areas of Ventura County could see up to an inch with mountain areas likely getting more. Scattered showers will linger on Wednesday and then. become more widespread for Thursday and Friday. Another swath of moisture is then poised to approach the region for New Year's Evening. Models are still seeing some contradicting solutions with regards to intensity. A couple of models are calling for very heavy rain. This means we will keep a very close eye on what develops toward those last couple of days of 2022. Expect model updates and tweaks to the forecast as we go through what is likely going to be a wet end to the year.
