Extreme heat wave Wednesday, tracking thunderstorms & lightning

SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, Calif. - A fast heat wave is triggering extreme heat warnings across the region.

Thunderstorms & lightning headed toward our region and southern California on Tuesday afternoon from Marie. Pop up storm chances remain through Tuesday night.

High pressure and offshore winds will peak Wednesday with record temperatures in the 90s-100s area wide.

Thursday the high pressure will weaken and winds will switch to onshore.

Leftover humidity from Marie will also prevail.

Extreme heat alerts hold through Thursday.

Further cooling arrives Friday.

Most areas will get closer to normal weather by the weekend, in the 70s, with less humidity.
