Bright and breezy Thursday ahead

After a day of wild winter weather Tuesday that storm system has now exited and we are left with a much calmer sunny day. Offshore flow will establish in the wake of a low pressure system exiting the region. Gusty Santa Ana winds will develop into Thursday and bring a warming trend to region through Friday. Another storm system could affect the area early next week and bring gusty winds along with rain and mountain snow to the region.

Highs Wednesday ran 3-6 degrees warmer than Tuesday but still a few degrees below normal. The Santa Ana for Thursday is still on track. A weak upper level system dropping through the Great Basin today will generate the needed ingredients for a moderate Santa Ana that should reach the coastal areas from Ventura to Malibu.  A wind advisory is in place for Ventura County coasts from 6AM to 3PM.  A wind advisory is in place for Ventura County valleys from 3AM until 3PM with gusts up to 45 mph.

Thursday temperatures will climb several degrees with highs in the mid 60s to low 70s.

Lingering breezes Friday morning but should be well below advisory levels. Another few degrees of warming expected putting most coast/valley areas in the 70s.

Saturday and Sunday look to be the transition days as the air mass transitions from offshore to onshore.

Next week another storm system is expected to move in cooling things back down, bringing more cloud cover and unsettled weather.
