Friday evening forecast – Dec. 3

Night through morning low clouds along with below normal daytime temperatures for Saturday. Sunday we will start to warm up with more sunshine and warmer temperatures. Clear skies, some offshore winds and above normal temperatures are slated for Sunday and Monday. Then cooler and cloudier the rest of the week with a chance of rain late Thursday into Friday.

A couple days of quiet weather on tap with a 2000` marine layer and clouds pushing well into the valleys. Following the passage of two upper lows Saturday night, one to the north and one south, northerly gradients will increase and generate areas of gusty winds.  The strongest winds in the Santa Barbara County mountains. If gradients and upper support hold up this will likely be an advisory level wind event for the high country of SB County late Saturday through early Monday, but also including portions of the south coast.

Ridging aloft will be developing Sunday warming up the air mass. So between that and some downsloping north to northeast winds look for several degrees of warming away from the coast both Sunday and Monday.  Highs will be in the 70s for most locations on Sunday.

Late Monday models are showing the next trough coming through with an inside slider track. No precipitation expected, though depending on the timing of it there could be a quick eddy spin up early Tuesday with possible drizzle, though the trough now appears to be moving too quickly for that. A more likely scenario is less clouds and another burst of northerly winds for many of the same areas as before.

Cooling trend begins Tuesday with a chance for a system bringing light rain on Thursday.  A better chance for rain in the forecast on Monday, December 13.
