Dramatic warming trend starts Wednesday

Mostly clear skies are expected Tuesday night through the weekend. A dramatic warming trend is expected Wednesday through Friday with temperatures reaching the upper 70s to 80s at the coast and 90s in the valleys. Cooler conditions are expected this weekend.

The low will retrograde into northern Mexico Tuesday night then will move eastward as strong ridge builds over the area through Friday.

A dramatic warming trend will occur across the area, widespread 80s to mid 90s are still looking good for Thursday. Temperatures will be at least be 10-20 degrees above normal Thursday and Friday.

As for winds, there is some increase in northerly offshore gradients the next couple of evenings. So, some gusty northerly winds can be expected across the Santa Ynez range. Low-end advisory level winds would not be out of the question the next couple of evenings. On Thursday/Friday, there may be some locally gusty northeast winds.

For the weekend a trough, and broad cyclonic flow, develop over the area, with this pattern, expect cooler temperatures and an increase in marine layer stratus.

At this time, Sunday looks to be the coolest day with many areas in the mid 60s to upper 70s.
