Pacifica captures CIF-SS D6 title with a 42-41 win over La Serna

WHITTIER, Calif.- In a back-and-forth game the Pacifica Tritons won the school's first-ever CIF-SS football championship with a 42-41 victory over La Serna in the division 6 title game.

Brad Bichard's 2-yard touchdown run with just over eight minutes left in the game put the Tritons up 42-35.

La Serna scored a touchdown with 5:10 remaining but they missed the extra point and that was the difference.

Pacifica football is the first male sport to win a CIF-SS title at the school.

This was a wild game throughout as Malik Sherrod scored two touchdowns in the first quarter and it was tied at 14.

RJ Maria tossed a touchdown pass to Kyrie Wilson in the second quarter and this contest was tied at 21 at the half.

Trailing 35-28 late in the third quarter, Wilson blocked a punt and Sherrod picked up near the end zone and scored to tie it up again.

Pacifica wins the CIF-SS Division 6 crown with a 13-1 record and will find out tomorrow if they will continue their season in the CIF-State playoffs as expected.
