HARMONY, Calif. (KEYT) – A 15-year-old boy from Morro Bay died after a car crash that injured three other people near Highway 1 just before 11:30 p.m. Friday night.

The car rolled over after hitting a guardrail and asphalt curb, eventually travelling down an embankment, hitting a large rock and overturning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The CHP does not suspect drug or alcohol impairment, and Highway 1 was closed until 4:00 a.m. Saturday for the investigation.

The 15-year-old who died did not have his seat belt on after being ejected from the car. A 17-year-old girl from Cambria also suffered major injuries after not wearing her seatbelt, according to the CHP.

A 19-year-old woman from Paso Robles in the passenger seat suffered moderate injuries and the 18-year-old driver suffered minor injuries from the crash, according to the CHP.

All three surviving teenagers received medical care from Adventist Health Sierra Vista Hospital and the crash remains under investigation as of Saturday afternoon, according to the CHP.
