Forward Progress Halted on 40-Acre Vegetation Fire South of Los Alamos

SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, Calif. (KEYT) – Fire teams have achieved 50 percent containment on a 40-acre vegetation fire near the Los Alamos Cemetery on Drum Canyon Road.

According to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, crews were able to halt forward progress of the flames at 9:22 p.m. Wednesday evening.

Drum Canyon Road was closed to traffic as part of the response added the emergency response agency.

Since initially sparking late Wednesday afternoon, a smoke plume grew quickly in the area showed the ALERTCalifornia camera system and captured in the image below.

This is an emergency fire response and more information will be added to this article when it is received.
