Tracking sweltering heat Thursday, heat relief this weekend

Sweltering heat continues for all Thursday. The heat dome is parked over the Southern California area and many places shattered records yesterday. Skies remain mostly sunny and humidity will continue to be an issue. The heat index will be something to watch as air temperatures will be into the 90s but feels-like temperatures will be much warmer. Overnight lows drop a few degrees but many areas get minimal relief. Look before you lock and check on those at risk.

We begin a drastic cooling trend Friday into the weekend. The heat dome breaks down and onshore flow returns. This means some areas will drop 5-10 degrees! Marine clouds are possible and more likely through the weekend. Marine waters are finally calm, so it is safe to head into the waters to beat the heat! Use sunscreen and stay extra hydrated.

More sea breeze will drop us back to comfortable 70s and 80s Saturday and Sunday. This will be needed relief for all. Overnights will be more pleasant. We hold with average or below average temperatures into next week. No w=major weather pattern shifts ahead.
