Rocketing back to school in Santa Maria

KEYT

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - Incoming 9th-grade students at Santa Maria High School, Pioneer Valley High School and Righetti High School will be “Rocketing Into High School” on Wednesday, August 2.

With the help of teachers from the Santa Maria Joint Union High School District's three main campuses, the new incoming students will explore the wonders of science by launching rockets they've designed and built.

After a short classroom session, the rockets will be launched near the baseball fields at Pioneer Valley High School in the afternoon.

It's part of an ongoing program in the SMJUHSD to get students interested in science as they begin their high school years.

The students return to their high school campuses on August 10 for the start of the new school year.
